About Saint-Remy-de-Provence and the surroundings Situated in the heart of the Alpilles, the Provencal small city of Saint Rémy is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys, its ancient streets are lined with beautifully restored old houses, fantastic old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques. This is the right place to buy local art crafts, souvenirs and watch the world go by over a coffee or pastis from a pavement café. The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters. The most famous was Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than 150 art works while he was interned at Saint-Paul-de-Mausole Hospital close to the roman city "Les Glanum" You can walk to the very same places painted by the artist and discover the mountain of St Rémy, fields of lavender (in June), wheat and coquelicots (wild flowers), olive and cypress trees - all just as it was more than a century ago.
In this wonderful part of Provence, our cooking school is only 5 minutes walking distance to the historical center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and one of the most famous market of Provence. Your cooking classes are held in a marvelous kitchen in the heart of the Mas. Enjoy all dinner under the stars on the romantic terrace. After dinner strolling through the narrow winding streets is a delight! Free WiFi is included.
